A Sin of Disobedience.

". . . The Second Vatican Council recalls: "Although he was made by God in a state of holiness, from the very onset of his history man abused his liberty...and sought to attain his goal apart from God" (GS 13). In these words the Council treats of the sin of our first parents committed in the state of original justice. However, all the sins committed throughout history reflect those same essential elements, as a result of the moral weakness that the human race has inherited. Understood as a personal act of man, every sin contains a particular "abuse of freedom," that is, an evil use of freedom, of free will. As a created being, man abuses his free will when he uses it against the will of his Creator, when in his behavior "he lifts himself up against God," when he seeks "to attain his goal apart from God." . . ."

Redemptor hominis Ioannes Paulus PP. II 1979 03 04
(12.) ". . .The Declaration on Religious Freedom shows us convincingly that, when Christ and, after him, his Apostles proclaimed the truth that comes not from men but from God ("My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me"80, that is the Father's), they preserved, while acting with their full force of spirit, a deep esteem for man, for his intellect, his will, his conscience and his freedom81. Thus the human person's dignity itself becomes part of the content of that proclamation, being included not necessarily in words but by an attitude towards it. This attitude seems to fit the special needs of our times. Since man's true freedom is not found in everything that the various systems and individuals see and propagate as freedom, the Church, because of her divine mission, becomes all the more the guardian of this freedom, which is the condition and basis for the human person's true dignity . . ."
". . . Jesus Christ meets the man of every age, including our own, with the same words: "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free"82. These words contain both a fundamental requirement and a warning: the requirement of an honest relationship with regard to truth as a condition for authentic freedom, and the warning to avoid every kind of illusory freedom, every superficial unilateral freedom, every freedom that fails to enter into the whole truth about man and the world. Today also, even after two thousand years, we see Christ as the one who brings man freedom based on truth, frees man from what curtails, diminishes and as it were breaks off this freedom at its root, in man's soul, his heart and his conscience. What a stupendous confirmation of this has been given and is still being given by those who, thanks to Christ and in Christ, have reached true freedom and have manifested it even in situations of external constraint! . . ."

DECLARATION ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM DIGNITATIS HUMANAE
(2.) " . . . It is in accordance with their dignity as persons-that is, beings endowed with reason and free will and therefore privileged to bear personal responsibility-that all men should be at once impelled by nature and also bound by a moral obligation to seek the truth, especially religious truth. They are also bound to adhere to the truth, once it is known, and to order their whole lives in accord with the demands of truth. However, men cannot discharge these obligations in a manner in keeping with their own nature unless they enjoy immunity from external coercion as well as psychological freedom . . ."

(3.) " . . . Further light is shed on the subject if one considers that the highest norm of human life is the divine law-eternal, objective and universal-whereby God orders, directs and governs the entire universe and all the ways of the human community by a plan conceived in wisdom and love. Man has been made by God to participate in this law, with the result that, under the gentle disposition of divine Providence, he can come to perceive ever more fully the truth that is unchanging. Wherefore every man has the duty, and therefore the right, to seek the truth in matters religious in order that he may with prudence form for himself right and true judgments of conscience, under use of all suitable means . . ."

Abuse of Human Freedom and Natural Law.
Doubting God: Preceding the abuse of human freedom in society, is an eclipse of the sense of God,
and a cultural climate of secularism.

Sin Breaks Man's Covenant with God.

A Sin of Disbelief.

". . . On the day before his passion, Jesus Christ spoke of the "sin" of which the Holy Spirit must "convince the world." He explained the essence of this sin in the words: "because they do not believe in me" (Jn 16:19). That "non-belief" in God is in a certain sense the first and fundamental form of sin, which man commits against the God of the covenant. This form of sin had already been manifested in original sin, spoken of in Genesis. The law given in the covenant of Sinai also refers to it, but in order to exclude it: "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me" (Ex 20:2-3). The words of Jesus in the cenacle and the whole of the Gospel and the New Testament also refer to it. This disbelief, this lack of trust in God who is revealed as Creator, Father and Savior, indicate that man, by sinning, not only transgresses the commandment (the law), but really "lifts himself up against" God himself, "seeking to attain his goal apart from God" (GS 13). In this way we can find at the root of every actual sin the echo, distant perhaps, but nonetheless real, of those words which were at the basis of the first sin. The words of the tempter presented disobedience to God as a way of being like God; of knowing, like God, "good and evil." . . ."

God made human freedom very broad. God also set reasonable limits to our freedom. Beyond these reasonably set limits are areas proper only to God. God sets some limits to human freedom, because in His Fatherly love He knows what is best for us. The areas proper only to God I call "sacred space". ( Genesis 2:15-17 NIV ) . . . 15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
for when you eat of it you will surely die . . .
What preceded the disobedience of Adam and Eve was doubting God, as suggested to them by the serpent.

Absolute Truth exists outside ourselves - even if we don't acknowledge it.

A person is culpable for the evil he or she commits when they take little trouble to find out what is true. Abuse of Freedom, by whomever may be deliberately "choosing not to know" the truth, as written on their hearts ( Jeremiah 31:33 ). Abuse of freedom may include "sloth" or "deliberately choosing not to know" that is: Willful neglect of Truth, feigned ignorance, and hardness of heart do not diminish, but rather increase, the voluntary character of sin.

Having loss sight of God, and using appealing terms like personal choice, modern, progressive, inclusive, or legal right the sinner deepens his rebellion by committing the ultimate abuse of freedom in breaking the commandment "thou shall not kill". This is separation from God, and with it comes the radical possibility of hell.
A person is not a something or a specimen. From the moment of conception, a person is somebody made in Gods image and likeness. It took an act of God to start this new life - even if (rare cases) the new life was conceived in a rape. The child conceived in rape is completely innocent. It is our duty to pray for everyone involved and do corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
The Church prays, leaving judgment to Almighty God.

Sin and evil has primordial roots, (its echoes) in the disobedience of Adam and Eve: (Genesis 3:5) "you will be like God."
Arrogance or Pride and Incredulity:
Un-belief in God does not relieve a person from following Natural Law. At Nuremberg, Germany a Military Tribunal assisted Albert Speer with seeing this. Albert Speer and other Nazi defendants were tried under Natural Law and found guilty. The willful refusal to assent to revealed truth, or even the neglect of truth. If an individual is obstinate (Exodus 33:5) or incredulous God will assist that individual on his or her individual judgment day to acknowledging absolute truth. . . .every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. . . (Romans 14:11).

On Freedom and Abuse of Freedom and Mortal Sin.

Abuse of freedom may include deluding one's self into thinking that human law(s) can nullify the Natural Law. Therefore, their are those persons who look to man made laws to somehow validate their sinful behaviour; therby they delude themselves into thinking that they have absolved themselves of any sin. This self-delusion - an attempt to wash away the guilt of sin, is based on the belief that human laws can prevail over Natural Law.
When asked: Should a child in the womb have any protection under the law? They may answer that: " . . .the law is what it is, and such decisions as Roe vs Wade are settled law . . ." These people are thinking carnally - a false freedom of license (2 Peter 2:19), not spiritually (2 Col. 3:17). They will little bother to look, or can not see, that man is not the arbitrator of life. They can not see, or don't care to see, that from conception a child in the womb is a somebody not a "speciment" or a "something". Killing somebody is murder. Murder, is that abuse of human freedom called mortal sin, for which their are eternal consequences. Sin can enslave a person (John 8:34 and Romans 6:17,20). The law to Christian love (Gal 5:13) and to unity destroys slavery. Thinking carnally, they can not see that Roe vs Wade is not Authentic Law because it does not harmonize with Natural Law.

Logic and Personhood: Once upon a Time.

I am now (02/2010) over 65 years old. Once upon a time I was - only 65 days old - only 65 minutes old - only 6.5 seconds old, etc.
If anywhere in my delicate developmental process you knowingly and willifully interupeted it, and purposefully caused the process to come to an end, than you would have murdered me.
God in His omnipitance, soverignty, and love wanted me to be born acording to His plan. This was accomplished for each one of us, as deliberate act, of His creative will. God sees everything in an eternal presence. Their is no past or future with God; When anyone counter-mands God's decision they are saying in effect: "I have a better idea than God". "I am the arbitrator of life". "I have a "right" to be like God." God will respect your decision to abuse your freedom and violate His "sacred space." He will place you in the proper place or condition for all eternity according to His perfect justice.

God willed a (person) baby to be born; even if the mother did not want to carry that (person) baby. Even if you don't believe in God you still need to obey the Natural Law.
Therefore, there is no such thing as an "unwanted baby" ( Psalm 139:13-16 ) ( Jeremiah 1:4-5 ) ( Isaiah 49:14-17 ). James says that the body apart from the spirit is dead ( James 2:26 ). If the baby in the womb is not alive, there would be no one there to kill! A live baby has an eternal soul. In Scripture, no distinction is made between babies in the womb ( Luke 1:41,44 ), and a newborn ( Luke 18:15-17). The same Greek word brephos is used. Sirach 19:11 uses brephos in reference to a baby in the womb. (Other passages where brephos is used are: Lk 2:12, 16; Acts 7:19; 2 Tim 3:15; 1 Peter 2:2; 1 Macc 1:61; 2 Macc 6:10; and the non-canonical 3 Macc 5:49 and 4 Macc 4:25 ) Christ will have a "vote" in the matter of our eternal destiny. This is true, even if both you and your Pastor, do declare: "once saved, always saved." Leading sheep astray is a grave matter ( Luke 17:2 ). It is enough just to be human to have the right to life.

Rebellious Sinners Using Artificial Contraceptives and Claiming:
Modern, Progressive, Inclusive, Personal Choice, or Legal Right. They fail to recognize the soverginty of God and the Natural Law

For example, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and other early Protestant reformers condemned Contraception.
In 1930, at the Lambeth Conference, the Anglican Bishops of the Church of England
decided to no longer consider Contraception sinful, leaving the matter up to individual consciences.
This has lead to confusion and division; this is like "playing with fire."
Soon thereafter, most Protestant denominations followed the Anglican Bishops and allowed Contraception.
God has allowed us to cooperate with Him, within marriage, on the gift of new life.
Artificial Contraception is a rejection of the gift of God.
That is: Not being open to the possibility of new life
(God's decision - in His "sacred space") and trusting that
God loves all of us (all humanity) and knows what is best for all of humanity - as God sees it.

It was not a Holy Spirit that guided Protestantism on this historical and spiritual "Wrong Way" turn into cascading divisions, lack of harmony and beauty, protracted dissension, and Legions of "truths."
There is an echo here of the fall of man in Genesis 3:4-6 "...You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.",br> When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it..."
This is the primordial lie, the quintessential lie. You in your pride and envy, and on your own subjective authority decide - what is truth? The lie in effect is still the same as in Genesis 3, "...you will be like God..."
In part then, the fall of man in Genesis 3 is about the idea of "sacred space". Some areas are proper to man and some areas are proper to God.
Man, for example, cooperates with God in procreating new life, but man is not the arbitrator of life. Couples should be open to the possibility of new life within marriage.
In part, the fall of man in Genesis 3 is about (first doubting God as suggested by the serpent) followed by disobedience; a violation of "sacred space."
( Jude 1:6 ) . . . And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day . . .
( 1 John 4:17 New Jerusalem Bible ) . . . Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because in this world we have become as He is . . .
I can not find a single verse in the Bible allowing artificial contraceptives.
Question: Have we become like Christ if we use contraceptives instead of Natural Family Planning (NFP)? Answer: No.

Opinion: Artificial contraceptives would probably work in reducing abortions if behaviour(s) or life styles also changed and became more virtuous. Use of artificial contraceptives do not promote chastity, self-control, or a virtuous life style.

Natural Family Planning (NFP) recognizes and acknowledges the sovereignty of God and the Natural Law. Calling abortion a sin and or murder is not a "scare tactic" or "intimidation" but a work of charity. Educating in the virtues (and about NFP) and asking a person using artificial contraceptives to repent and obey the Natural Law (in a gentle and charitable manner) is a work of mercy.

The fact in the long term view is: That an increase in availability and use of artificial contraception in a society, always results in an increase in abortion in that society. In part, because of psychological factors, the results are the same for any society in the world.
Knowing that an increase in the availability and use of artificial contraceptives, always leads to an increase in abortions; one manager of an abortion clinic in Dallas, Texas involved herself in sex education at local high schools.
The abortion mill manager even provided students with low dose birth control pills in order to promote promiscuity.
The results: more promiscuity, more pregnancies, and more abortion business.
This former abortion clinic manager, Carol Everett, has now turned and become pro-life.
Carol Everett shares her story in her autobiography, The Scarlet Lady: Confessions of a Successful Abortionist. Abortion kills tens of millions of persons; it is a culture of death. Truth is a matter of life and death - eternally. Use of artificial contraceptives facilitates a liberal attitude and lifestyle and an erosion of the virtues. This liberalization of attitude and behaviour is a process which can generalize into a kind of "contraceptive mentality" whereby the individual acts or decides (even if unconsciously) that he or she is "like God" - he or she can decide (through abortion and euthanasia) who shall live and who shall die. The contraceptive mentality generalizes to such an extent that the person feels as though he or she has the freedom to do whatever they want to do. On freedom Saint Augustin says: "Love God and do what you want." In time as the "contraceptive mentality" becomes more prevalent, the whole of society and country could be destroyed. If the right to life can not be protected than no other right can be protected. The person with a "contraceptive mentality" seeks to legitimize his or her "like God" status. The person seeks popular social and moral approval claiming to be "modern" "progressive" "inclusive" and to have "his or her reproductive health rights" - rights not given by God. The person with a contraceptive mentality supports governmental laws to legitimize his or her status as "the arbitrator of life." Artificial contraceptives often kill a person in his or her's first few moments or days of life. This aborted child, and innocent person (however young), was given life by God. The person having an abortion is saying in effect "I have a better idea than God" - "I am the arbitriator of Life."

USCCB Fact Sheet: Contraceptive Mandates
". . .Facts: Contraception is an elective intervention that stops the healthy functioning
of healthy women's reproductive systems. Medically it is infertility, not fertility, that is generally considered a disorder to be treated.

Myth: "Contraceptive mandates will reduce the abortion rate by half."
Facts: More than half (58%) of all abortion patients were using contraception during the month when they became pregnant.1 Only 11% of abortion patients have never used a method of contraception.2
Moreover, studies have shown that once contraception is more widely available, abortion rates may actually rise.3
In Maryland, for example, the first state to enact a contraceptive mandate, the number of abortions rose by 1,226 the year after the mandate took effect. . ."

Chattel Slavery was once legal in the United States

Just as commercial interests, pride and arrogance, once made Chattel Slavery legal in the United States; the same well springs of evil now make abortion legal in the United States and many parts of the world. In part, a civil war was fought in the United States 150 years ago (abolitionists vs. wealth and pride) because the prevaling laws concerning chattel slavery, at that time, were not in harmony with Natural Law.
God's way are not our ways, and He has His "sacred space". Our God is an awesome God . . . He reigns from high above with wisdom . . . power and love. God has His "sacred space" where He decides who shall live and who shall die. We are free to choose the good and avoid evil. Un-belief in God does not give you the "right" to have an abortion. We are not free to violate Natural Law. A person does not have the "right" to have an abortion because the "authority claiming to have jurisdiction" somehow validates abortion. Human Laws can not supercede the Natural Law; they must harmonize with it. Man is not the arbitrator of life; this is God's "sacred space." Abortion is murder.

Cooperation with a Moral Evil is Sin

The seriousness of the sin, of cooperation with a moral evil, depends on many facts, and may be classified as either: "formal cooperation" or "material cooperation" with a moral evil. We have a right or a duty to disobey an unjust law.
For example: In Montgomery Alabama, (1955) a Black women Rosa Parks, by law, had to sit in the back of a city bus and stand if a white person needed a seat. Rosa Parks courageously refused to give up her seat to a white man. She was arrested. The unjust law, discriminated, based on race or color, and was eventually changed. Rosa Parks has been called the mother of the civil rights movement.

Their are eternal consequences for such acts as murder.
Some Example(s): Abortion is murder even though if may not violate the "law" of some nation states.
Another Example: Hitler's Genocide is murder even though it did not violate any of the "laws" of Hitler's Germany. Hitler's architects of death, Albert Speer and others who willfully neglected truth (seeking plausable denial) and "chose not to know" will face absolute truth and perfect justice - as we all will.
(Proverbs 24:11-12 ) . . . Save those being dragged towards death, but can you rescue those on their way to execution? If you say, But look, we did not know, will the Weigher of the heart pay no attention? Will not the Guardian of your soul be aware and repay you as your deeds deserve?

Under United States law a person is entitled to believe that you do not have a soul; but he is not permitted to carry out that belief by killing you. Freedom to believe as you wish, should not be confused with the freedom to destroy other people - as in the case of abortion.

Under the New Covenant, God, the Weigher of the heart, will hold men and woman accountable for their intentions - even their thoughts ( Mt. 5:27 ) - as well as their deeds ( Rev 2:23 ) ( Jeremiah 11:20; 17:10 ) ( Rev. 21: 11-15 ).

Sin Has a Double Consequence.

Indulgences: It is Necessary to Understand that Sin Has a Double Consequences.
"The punishments of sin.
1472 To understand this doctrine and practice of the Church it is necessary to understand that sin has a double consequence. Grave sin deprives us of communion with God and therefore makes us incapable of eternal life, the privation of which is called the "eternal punishment" of sin. On the other hand every sin, even venial, entails an unhealthy attachment to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after death in the state called Purgatory. This purification frees one from what is called the "temporal punishment" of sin. These two punishments must not be conceived of as a kind of vengeance inflicted by God from without, but as following from the very nature of sin. A conversion which proceeds from a fervent charity can attain the complete purification of the sinner in such a way that no punishment would remain.84

1473 The forgiveness of sin and restoration of communion with God entail the remission of the eternal punishment of sin, but temporal punishment of sin remains. While patiently bearing sufferings and trials of all kinds and, when the day comes, serenely facing death, the Christian must strive to accept this temporal punishment of sin as a grace. He should strive by works of mercy and charity, as well as by prayer and the various practices of penance, to put off completely the "old man" and to put on the "new man".85"

Un-repentant persons, whomsoever, who abuse their freedom and disobey the Natural Law may have to obey Satan for all eternity. They can either obey the Natural Law now, (no matter high and mighty they think they are) - or soon enough - they may obey Satan for all eternity. This is not a "scare tactic".
God alone must judge individuals ( Romans 2:16 ) ( 1 Corinthians 4:5; 5:12-13 ).
Where the spirit of the Lord is their is Freedom (2 Col. 3:17)

Love God and do whatever you will!

Recognize and Acknowledge The Sovereignty of God and the Natural Law.

Notice especially, in the example of the trial of Albert Speer, that there is such a thing as Natural Law. There is such a thing as religious truth. Notice especially, that human life needs protection now; whether or not everyone in society has acknowledged that truth or not. In the 1930's and 1940's, the laws, or Chancery, of Hitler's Germany, effectively "re-defied" murder (The T-4 program) as something like "genetic purification." Those laws, in violation of Natural Law, were not authentic law - they were fraudulent.
At Nuremberg, Germany, Albert Speer avoided the death penalty [ ah! Did Albert Speer really avoid the death penalty? Where is he now? ( Proverbs 24:11-12 ) ] but he received a 20 year prison sentence. Much later on Albert Speer admitted: "we chose not to know". Hitler's architects of death, Albert Speer and others "chose not to know." They killed tens of millions of people.

When we effectively "re-define" murder as "legal abortion"; when we "re-define" a child in its mothers womb as a "specimen" we also "choose not to know." We also kill tens of millions of people.
The United States laws, in opposition to, or not in harmony with, Natural Law which effectively "re-define" murder as legal abortion, are a violation of Natural Law; they are not authentic law - they are fraudulent. Laws of any State or "authority claiming to have jurisdiction" which attempt to nullify the Word of God are not authentic law.

The Word of God is Truth. We will all face judgment after our death. Neglect of Truth, willful ignorance, feigned ignorance, and sloth, only having made us more culpable.
The criminal character, of such acts as murder, have been regard as such, by God, from the beginning (Genesis).

If we will not acknowledge truth and reality on our own,
then God will assist us with that on our individual day of judgment.

In the end we will be in Heaven or Hell - Forever.

"The justice of God has been manifested through faith in Jesus Christ" (cf. Rm 3, 21-22)
